THE PROCESS

STAGE 1: CONSULTATION
An initial conversation to find out more about you, the garden, your likes and dislikes and to talk you through the stages of the design process. We will also discuss some new interesting ideas for your garden to best suit your personality and desires.

STAGE 2: SITE SURVEY AND ANALYSIS
Gardens are complex entities, so first I need to understand and analyse the space. This will include:

- Taking overall garden measurements
- Analysing the space, its boundaries and the existing garden elements
- Inspecting and recording all existing plants, trees and shrubs
- Testing the soil for its texture, colour and pH level in order to produce a correct planting plan
- Documenting the gardens orientation in relation to the sun

- Making notes of key areas and changes in level
- Drawing up a scaled garden survey plan to use in the next stage

STAGE 3: THE DESIGN PROPOSAL
The design proposal offers you a visualisation of your potential garden layout. This will include:

- A client brief pin pointing the notes discussed in the consultation. The brief may include links and images of ideas used in the design process and additional information about any construction and/or plant details.

- A concept board for each area showing a variety of images, colour palettes, potential planting and material suggestions
- A scaled concept drawing of your garden
- A garden elevation with construction detail
- Freehand perspective sketch to help you better visualise the design

STAGE 4: THE MASTER PLAN
Following the proposal consultation, any amendments can be modified in the design to create the scaled master plan communicating finalised measurements, materials, features, construction details and a colour render. Scaled elevations will also be included in this stage which can be given to your chosen landscapers to produce a final quotation.

STAGE 5: CONSTRUCTION

This stage entirely revolves around you, the client. Dates needs to be set, contracts agreed and details checked to ensure the landscapers understand the project at hand. Please see my terms and conditions for more information about this stage.

STAGE 6: PLANTING PLANS
I create planting plans suited to your garden environment. A balanced cohesion of texture, structure, form, movement, colour and scent to best complement your space.
Having spoken with you about plants in a previous stage this final section is one of my favourites. It is here where I offer plant boards, scaled planting plans, a colour rendered master planting plan and finally a maintenance document for your gardens ongoing care.
